Filter life depends on a number of variable factors including the wearers breathing rate, the characteristics and level of the contaminant, the length of exposure to a contaminant and environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. Saturated or used filter cartridges will leak trace amounts of contaminants which may be detected by odour, taste and/or irritation. If a contaminant can be detected by any of these means filter cartridges should be changed immediately.
